Devblog #3 - Progress update! (Re-Upload)

Development Blog #3 - General Status Update!

*Check the last devblog upload date* It's been 33 days!

(I had to reupload this because I posted at the wrong section)

I did promise that I will try to write more Devblog, so here we are.

Since it has only been a month since the last Devblog this one is not going to be as long as the previous one.

Lightbound Progress:

Sadly I have a few bad news I have to say that I may not be able to release before Christmas 2025 anymore. Reason being a few private circumstances, university and job hunting in general.

Let's get over with the bad stuffs first:

- As mentioned, I may not be able to release the chapter 1 before Christmas 2025 anymore.

- Due to many new features and Quality of Life changes in the game, a new save file starting from the beginning may be mandatory. I will have to test it out first before I can give it a definitive statement on it.

Current Progress:

In the previous DevBlog I mentioned that I have to adjust a few things within the story and the game itself.  So the progress is a little bit different than the previous blog for now.

- Story/Writing : 90% - I already know how I'm planning to close the chapter 1 and tease chapter 2. 90% as I still need a second opinion on this.

- Dialogue: 60% I have managed to bring the characters to the new part of the story and I still need to type all of the dialogue and banter between the characters. There are attempts to create comedy, but frankly some part I don't find it that funny myself and I am struggling a little bit here.

- 3D Render: 50%, as mentioned in the last Devblog, I have to be more strategic when it comes to using 3D render to reduce workload. I also want to add 3D animation within the game as a video for a very special event. I will have to test for compatibility first. Animation is not my strongest skill but currently I am also undertaking a little bit of practice. I want to surprise you, the player, whenever I can.

- Cutscenes and Event: 70%, beside the final cutscene for Chapter 1, what's left is cutscenes / events for exploration and puzzle. This ties in with the dialogue as well so the progress of both events and dialogue ties in together.

New features I added in Chapter 1:

Chase events: Something or someone will try to chase after you in the game. Try to run away. No spoiler.

Stealth mechanic: It's a simple timer based invisibility and ties in with Chase events. This is a tool to help players go around chasing scene.

Cipher Puzzles: I added a reference sheet for a cipher within the for the optional side content for people who are interested in the mystery and lore of the game story itself. I am still deciding if I should add it for the main story progression as well (With fail safe of course). I also hope it is not too hard for average players.

Actual Darkness and Flashlights: In certain area of the map it will be completely dark and flashlight may be required for the player to navigate around the area. I don't you to forget this is also a horror game :)

Island Map: It's mandatory, you won't be able to miss it.

Quality of Life changes: Interact-able door and objects will now have a indicator on it.

Planned changes/addition to the game

- Introduction sequences may have more content to expand on the world and the story

- (Not definitive) I may remove the name changing features or at least make it optional.

- Dream sequences in Prologue may have different looks and sound design

So Gani, how are you?

I'm okay. It's not the best time of the year, but not the worst either. Although a few weeks ago I was very stressed when it comes to financial support. The job I was offered? Well I got rejected, classics. I'm used to it. On the other hand my professor offered me another one and I can definitely start in January. It's a side job for student. It's not gonna be a lot but it's better than nothing. I will be a teaching assistant for my professor in 3D modelling course.

Other than that and fighting with student loan office, nothing is else is going on and my daily routine consist of waking up, going to class, eat food, gaming, work on my game, sleep and repeat. 7 days a week. 30 days a month. Once Chapter 1 is released, maybe it's wise to take a month of the development of Lightbound. I also have a lot of backlog of Visual Novels and game i would love to try as well.  Recently I also have published an asset pack for sale on itch. Of course no one bought it, maybe it's too expensive. If i knew how to lower the price for sales, I will. Other than that, I also open a commission to convert Honey Select 2 model to Blender as well. If you're interested. Feels free to comment down here. More information you can find by clicking here.

There is also a plan that once I managed to get around 20 - 50 followers, I will start to make a discord for discussion for the game. I'd probably won't open a Patreon until I get more than 100 actual followers. I do have a page but it's unpublished due to lack of activity, which is okay. You can always donate to me via Itch.io itself (You don't have to. I make this game free for everyone!)

If you read everything above, I want to thank you for your time and support in my project. Thank you very much everyone.
