Development Blog #2

Admit it, you only clicked on it because of thumbnail hehehe~

Here's the image with the meme.

Yes I know, I know. I wanted to give a general update every month. I'm not that late right?

*Check date on last Devblog* - Oh. Well, not like a lot of people read them anyway. Beside a few people, but if you do: Thank you for your time.

I noticed there are quite a lot of views on my last devblog, even more than the views on my game itself (I don't know if I should be sad or not lol.). But what I can definitely say is that, a more personal oriented writing style of blog seems to have come off better to the reader than whatever corporate sounding response bs I wrote on my first devblog.

Anyway let's not beat around the bush, you value your time, I also value your time.

How's the progress on Lightbound?

I'd say I have been very productive, but not productive enough than I'd like to be.

Reasons: University classes start, bureaucratic nightmare regarding apartment, credit transfer, j*b application (sorry for J slur.) I'll elaborate more at the bottom of the post just in case you don't really care about it.

Current Chapter 1 progression estimation:

- Story + Writing : 80% done (I have decided to slightly changed a little bit of ending of chapter 1, nothing too major.)

- Mapping: 70% done, I'm currently working on the last few interior levels right now. Parallax mapping takes a lot more time than I expected.

- Cut-scene render / 3D render: 60% done, I have rendered up unto the part where the story takes the player out of the current area out of the area

-  Game assets creation: 90%, honestly I just need to create walking sprite of  2 more characters and it's everything for this chapter

- Event scripting / programming: 40%, there is a new mechanic i need to implement and test out extensively, I will not elaborate further it as it could potentially spoil the story. Although I am excited to share it soon.

- Playtesting / Proofreading: ??% Lol, can only do that once it's all done though.

When does the update come?

I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY ABILITY TO RELEASE IT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

No promises though, real life issues come first. I don't want to rush it either, but I know people hate waiting.

What else is going on with the developer?

Life's kinda tough right now.

Seriously though, I have to adjust after going back to the university again after all these years. I'll try to keep the very personal stuff to the minimum.

Honestly I'm just trying to finance my study, there are ways but this month is very tight I barely have anything left.

Good news part: I managed to land a job interview yesterday as a 3D Artist for a start up company. It seems to went very and I will likely be able to start next week. That should cover rent and insurance next month IF I can start next week. This situation could have been prevented if the previous job application didn't outright ghost me or the student loan office works at the negative speed of light. I will know by Friday if I get the job or not. So yeah, mentally on a tight rope right now.

The Professor who wrote my recommendation to them actually found the job actually, I may have underestimate university connection until now. If this job doesn't work out, I got another one lining up as teaching assistant in his 3D art and design course, but that's for next semester, unfortunately.

So current objective: Survive.

Anything else I would like to share?

Yeah a few things.

I just totally remembered that you can also make comic on itch.io. That might have been a lot faster to produce than a game. I probably won't be able to draw a whole comic, I'm not that good when it comes to drawing. I know can draw a few things, but consistent in quality is hard for me and I wouldn't hurt your eyes with wonderful drawing I created. I would love to expand on Lightbound universe in a comic form after this project is done,

Beside that, I may have to get my crap together and maybe hustle for more money if I wanna be able to keep making games. I'm not gonna act like RPG Maker games are the hardest kind of games to ever create but I am somewhat scared that I wouldn't have time to work on it. Even if it's just 2 people playing it. This is my passion.

Maybe I will open a Fiverr? Open commission for 3D modelling. Maybe I'll sell some home-made assets on here? Would you guys be interested? I assume if you guys make your way down here, that maybe you guys are interested, my 10 followers :D.

I also considered making a whole separate account just for NSFW project, but I am not confident in my ability to satisfy potential fan yet. So many stuff to learn first.

Disclaimer: Some of these rendered images shown may or may not has to do with the game. Play the game to find out :) (Once the update comes out that is)
